Shortly before March break last year, 15-year-old Kwayza began experiencing severe joint pain, had difficulty walking and chronic nausea. Following a bone marrow test, doctors confirmed that Kwayza had acute lymphoblastic leukemia, a cancer of the blood.
Prior to his diagnosis, Kwayza was passionate about horses. When he was only 8 years old, Kwayza began riding horses and immediately took to the sport. He began volunteering at a local barn in order to be close to the animals he loved so much.
When Kwayza was first told that he would be receiving his most heartfelt wish, his decision was an easy one – he knew he wanted to be with horses. Children’s Wish is so happy we were able to grant his wish! Kwayza’s wish includes spending a year hanging out with his favourite horse Ty. He is now taking riding lessons, has new riding gear, makes horse treats and helps to walk all the horses at the stable.
“Thank you for making my wish come true. I honestly can’t thank you enough for making this happen! I am just so grateful for everything you have done for me,” he says.
