For 17-year-old Jaimey, music is more than a pleasure – it is a source of courage and inspiration.
Diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia at an early age, she says, “I have been battling cancer since I was five years old. Music has helped me push through everything.”
Jaimey sings, plays both guitar and banjo, and has her sights set on a career as a musician. So it’s not surprising that her wish was a professional recording session. Children’s Wish sent Jaimey and her family to Toronto, where she met Juno Award winning producer and songwriter, Adam Alexander. Together they stepped into the studio to record “Survive,” her first radio-quality single. Next came a performance – and standing ovation – at Night of Wonders, the BC & Yukon Chapter’s annual fundraising gala.
The power of Jaimey’s wish is still going strong. According to her mom, “ It was such a great experience for Jaimey … and continues to be, as she is now working with the producer on more songs!”
