CHAPTER HIGHLIGHTS In early 2016, the Greek Orthodox community in Swift Current began reviewing sponsorship submissions from local charities. Children’s Wish Saskatchewan Chapter, currently in the process of revamping their fall event, was invited to submit a proposal, and ZOE Greek Night was born. An intimate gathering of about 150 guests was planned, with all proceeds going to Children’s Wish to help grant the wishes of local children, including ZOE Greek Night Wish Ambassador, 10-year-old Hunter. ZOE Greek Night provided a lively evening featuring authentic Greek foods, exotic belly dancers, 84 donated silent auction lots, a 50-50 raffle, puzzle piece sale and dancing until the wee hours. The sold-out event raised a phenomenal $36,600. ZOE event co-chairs, Irene and Kelsey, planned every detail to perfection, with subcommittees responsible for sponsorship, ticket sales, auction, dinner and entertainment. The efforts of this extraordinary community of philanthropists have made a profound and lasting impact on the lives of wish children like Hunter, who will set off on a South African safari with his family in November 2017.
