Since 2000, Neil Haeusler and Tal McGongal, along with their dedicated team of volunteers, have been devoted to raising funds for Children’s Wish Manitoba & Nunavut Chapter. To date, their fun-filled hockey tournament has raised over $200,000 in support of local wishes. Thanks to their efforts, this year’s event will be remembered as another huge success. As the evening’s Wish Child Ambassador, 16-year-old Caleb was delighted to be part of the tournament. He performed official puck-drop duties, getting the action off to a rousing start. Diagnosed with Scimitar syndrome, a rare congenital heart defect, Caleb has undergone many surgeries and now has a pacemaker helping to regulate his heartbeat. He lives with his mom and two sisters, and has a wide circle of friends and well‑wishers – all of whom can vouch for the warmth and kindness of his big, loving heart. Caleb looks forward to taking his wish trip to Orlando, Florida, where he plans to visit LEGOLAND, Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Universal Orlando Resort.
