A Wish Child Gets the Royal Treatment Ontario National Capital Chapter Children’s Wish National Capital Chapter (based in Ottawa) had the pleasure of granting a truly royal wish this year. 14-year-old Victoria was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, a genetic disorder that affects the lungs, kidneys and digestive system. A devotee of the Royal Family – she has their pictures on her bedroom wall and can name all the kings and queens of England since William the Conqueror – Victoria’s wish was to meet them in person. During the Royal visit to British Columbia this past September, Victoria and her family traveled from Ottawa so that she could present flowers to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at the official welcome ceremony. It was a thrilling moment that she will never forget. The National Capital Chapter also held their first Savour the Moment fundraiser. Tickets sold out quickly and the event was a resounding success. Featuring samplings from the best local restaurants, bakeries, breweries and wineries, Savour the Moment gave guests the opportunity to socialize, sip, and savour their way through the evening, all for a good cause. By popular demand, this delectable event will return next year and is sure to earn a spot on Ottawa’s don’t-miss list for many years to come.
