On her 30th birthday, Marie-Élaine Thibert celebrates with Children’s Wish by making a $60,000 donation!
On the very day of her 30th birthday, last April 18, Marie-Élaine Thibert took the stage of the Rialto theatre in Montréal and donated $60,000 to the Children’s Wish Foundation. Marie-Élaine, who has been spokesperson of Children’s Wish since 1984, had decided to organize a benefit concert for the Foundation on her birthday. This generous initiative will allow Children’s Wish to grant 6 wishes to children living with a life threatening illness. It was a memorable evening for the 500 spectators and donors who were present that night. A great success across the board!
“The results are beyond my expectations!” cheered Marie-Élaine. “I had been thinking of this project for several years and, when I decided to do it, the objective of raising $30,000 for my 30th birthday seamed realistic, if modest, for a first. I was hoping to get more, but I never thought I could double the amount! This show was the result of volunteer work and I’m extremely grateful to everyone who contributed.”
The show was co-hosted by Marie-Élaine herself and her accomplice, actor-host and ambassador for the Children's Wish Foundation Stéphane Bellavance. Over a dozen artists volunteered for the show, amongst which: Paul Piché, Pierre Lapointe, Bruno Pelletier, Nathalie Choquette, Yvon Landry, Laurence Jalbert, Laurent Paquin, Brigitte Boisjolie, Michaël Girard, Marc-André Fortin, Jean-Sébastien Lavoie, Jamil Azzaoui, Marco Calliari as well as the young singers Marco Bocchicchio and Frédérique Mousseau.
Marie-Élaine owes the success of this fundraising event to a strong honorary committee under the presidency of Mr. Christian Trudeau and an organizing committee led by Mrs. Martyne Paradis and many volunteers. Dominick Trudeau was in charge of stage direction.
A heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who contributed so magnificently to creating the magic of wishes!
