At just four years old, Saige has been through more than most of us can even imagine. In 2008 Saige received a heart transplant as a result of a complex heart defect. If that weren’t enough to deal with, Saige also has a twisted bowel, global delays and was born with Heterotaxy Syndrome. Heterotaxy Syndrome is a disorder that results in certain organs forming on the opposite side of the body and can affect the development of the heart, liver, lungs, intestines, and spleen.
Despite her numerous medical challenges, Saige remains an upbeat little girl who loves to paint, play outside and spend time with her older sisters. Last summer, Saige and family went camping for the first time and Saige fell in love with the great outdoors. Camping was the prefect getaway for the family as it allowed them a break from their daily routines but didn't require extensive travelling. This meant that Saige could remain close enough to the hospital in case of any health complications. It was Saige's love of camping that would ultimately inspire her wish.
Saige and family were recently at Grove RV to be presented with her most heartfelt wish; a camping trailer of her very own! When asked why she chose this wish, Mom Gloria shares: “Saige went camping for the first time last year and just loved it so much. Saige loved being with her sisters, playing on the beach, going for walks, learning how to bike and sitting by the fire.” Most importantly for the family, Gloria says that Saige’s new camper will allow them to stay connected as a family. “It’s something we can do as a family every year to make memories.”
Best of all, this trailer will allow Saige to do what she does best; be a kid!
