“Hi, my name is Zane.  I am 13 years old and I live in Grande Prairie with my Mom, my Dad and my 15 year old brother.  I love dogs and cars.  I have two loyal companions, Alpha and Myah.  Alpha is a Golden Retriever and Myah is my sweet, but stubborn Dachshund!  I was diagnosed with Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy at the age of four, and although I spend 100% of my time in a wheelchair now, I was able to walk at one time and that is something I am thankful for.

I am in grade seven at Derek Taylor Public School.  I am very lucky because I have a lot of friends…mostly girls, (yeah!) who I spend a lot of my time hanging out with!  I enjoy going for walks around my neighbourhood, and putting my chair on high speed to give my family a bit of an extra work out.  I like playing video games, reading and going to see a good movie at the theatre.  I am very excited to be able to go on a wish trip with my family this year.  I have chosen Hawaii as my destination because I think it should be relaxing and warm.  It will be really nice to go swimming in the warm water and eat fresh pineapple.  It has been a very long winter this year, and I couldn’t get around much so I will definitely appreciate the trip. I feel extremely lucky to have been granted a wish!!!! So many individuals give so generously to make wishes like mine become a reality.  This is so amazing.  I am also very excited to be a part of this year’s campaign for the Death Race team.  I know these individuals will be an inspiration to me, and hopefully I can inspire them as well. I am looking forward to correspondence from each of them, and hopefully I will have the opportunity to attend the weekend of the race to meet them, see them off, and welcome them in!”
