The Children's Wish Manitoba & Nunavut Chapter was deeply saddened to receive the news that one of our wish families was involved in a terrible car accident on their way home from Saskatchewan. The Dubois family was travelling home from a Tae Kwon Do Tournament in Yorkton when their van was struck by another car on the highway.
Marcel and Brenda Dubois, two of our most dedicated volunteers and supporters were killed in the crash. Their son Dustin, who received his wish to go to Disney World in 2006, was in the car along with 3 of his 4 brothers, all of whom survived. Marcel and Brenda left behind 5 boys, two of whom are currently in critical condition at a Regina hospital.
We had the privilege of meeting this wonderful family in 2005, and became close friends with Marcel and Brenda in no time at all. Not only were Marcel and Brenda amazing individuals but they were also committed supporters of the Children’s Wish Foundation. The family attended many of our fundraisers, actively supported our Walk for Wishes each year, and generously donated prize items for our events without even being asked to do so. Marcel’s courier business, Dubois Delivery Service, made sure that all of our packages were picked up and delivered at absolutely no charge, and Marcel always did so with a smile. Their contribution to Children’s Wish is immeasurable and will be impossible to replace.
The commitment and dedication that Marcel and Brenda showed our Chapter and this organization was second to none. Their strong belief in our cause was evident in everything that they did for us. We will greatly miss two of the most wonderful people we had the pleasure of knowing, and our hearts and prayers go out to their sons.
A trust fund has been set up for the Dubois boys; for more information, please contact any Winnipeg area Scotiabank branch.
