Whether it was watching tumbling waves from the comfort of a lounge chair, playing in the surf or zip lining through the air, Hannah, 14, along with her parents and two brothers enjoyed all of what her granted wish - a family trip to Hawaii had to offer.
Following a day’s rest after a long flight, Hannah described snorkeling in Molokini, an ancient caldera located in the middle of the ocean and is one of only three calderas in the world. Afterwards they went whale watching, swam with sea turtles and enjoyed a ‘wicked, wild boat ride,’ all in six hours. She also talked about seeing the coral reef and other wonders of marine life.
“We saw the most beautiful tropical fish, coral, octopus, it was like watching it on HD TV! The water was the colour of Windex, the whales were so close, the sea turtles enormous,” she explained. Hannah’s mother Gwen talked about their family adventures on the road, specifically a tour of the Hana Highway.
“This road is so much more than a ‘road!’ The first five miles we stopped and watched real surfers on huge waves, breath taking. From hairpin turns, to roadside stands that sell fresh banana bread and the banana tree groves are all you can see. Crashing waves from an ocean that is a dazzling shade of blue and swimming in a 200 foot waterfall rounded out this day of memorable experiences,” she mused.
Aside from all the wonderful memories experienced by Hannah and her family, Gwen said it was The Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada who made everything possible from granting Hannah’s wish.
“Our most dearest thanks to The Children’s Wish Foundation. Words cannot explain our gratitude and the joy this trip brought.”
