An Honest Pirate's Wish

Aidan, seven, had only recently been diagnosed with cancer when his grandmother died from the disease. It was no surprise then, that when Aidan’s mother Pascale was informed he was eligible for a wish, she was a little apprehensive.

“My response to this news had to be one of the most underwhelming the foundation ever had. It went something like ‘That’s great, but can we put this wish off?’ ” She described.

`When Aidan completed his chemotherapy sessions and was given an encouraging prognosis from his doctor, Aidan decided it was time to make his most heart felt wish known: to go to a ‘kids club’ on a boat. “The best kids club on a boat we knew of was Disney. We told our Wish Coordinator of Aidan’s wish…shortly thereafter she informed us that Aidan would get his wish on his birthday,” Pascale said. It turns out Aiden’s wish would do more for his family than just be a really awesome birthday gift.

“The most magical part of the cruise was on his seventh birthday. The Disney representative on board the fantasy was able to get Aidan an appointment at the bibbidi bobbidi boutique for a Pirate makeover. Aidan dressed up as Captain Hook and was sworn in as an honest pirate. There was a pirate show in the afternoon, a pirate-themed supper, another pirate show in the evening, then fireworks and finally a Pirate dance party on the main deck. It was a magical day. Words cannot express how much we appreciate what the Children’s Wish Foundation and all who support it did for our son Aidan. Thank you for granting Aidan’s wish.”
