A beautiful sunny day welcomed over 65 riders at CFB Edmonton for the Alberta leg of the 3rd Annual Military Police National Motorcycle Relay.  The Children’s Wish Foundation was selected as a charity partner this year and will share the proceeds with the Military Police Fund for Blind Children. The relay, occurring on consecutive weekends, started in Ontario in July, and concluded  in Comox, BC on August 17.

After coffee and a welcome from Master Corporal Jeff Hagan of 1st Military Police Regiment, the coordinator for Alberta, the riders headed to CFB Cold Lake led by local sheriffs. It was an impressive sight watching the line of bikes head north, a very inspiring procession. After lunch and a silent auction in Cold Lake the riders ended their day in St. Albert at the Crown and Tower pub, hosted by owner Troy Marchak, a very generous supporter who secured sponsorship and personally donated to the auction.

The silent auction offered an abundance of items including autographed jerseys from Ricky Ray and Sheldon Souray to helmets, jackets and gloves; there was something for everyone. The auction was a great success and the auctioneerteam of Jeff and Troy was formidable!
Master Corporal Hagan had set a goal of $10,000 for Alberta and by the end of the night it was clear he had surpassed this and was looking at closer to $15,000 raised. The Children’s Wish Foundation is very grateful for the tireless effort Jeff devoted to this event. Master Corporal Hagan is to be congratulated for his success as he is the coordinator who had the highest  rider turnout and raised the  most money in Canada.
