Raising awareness and funds one booth at a time

If you’ve ever been out and about in the Penticton area, chances are you’ve run into Tracey Lalonde at one of many booths she sets up as a volunteer for the Children’s Wish Foundation. Tracey sets up booths at various locations in and around Penticton helping raise funds and more importantly awareness for Children’s Wish across BC. Although she works as a professional photographer, Tracey also has a passion for helping others and has found her niche as an ambassador for Children’s Wish.  “I have always loved magic, wishes and dreams come true” Tracey comments, so volunteering with the Foundation was a perfect fit.

Often while out in the community, Tracey has the opportunity to meet wish kids and their families which she credits with motivating her to want to do even more. “It solidifies everything that I am doing and allows me to see who I am helping…just incredible! It brings it all together for me and now I see their smiling faces every time I go out fundraising.” Her meetings with wish families is something Tracey readily shares in an effort to help the public understand the profound effect a wish can have on a child and their family.

Volunteers like Tracey are integral to the Foundation and a vital component to ensuring we reach as many children as possible who could benefit from the magic of a wish.  In the short time that she has been fundraising, Tracey has raised nearly $2,000 and continues to finds new ways to engage the public with the Foundation’s mission of bringing smiles to the faces of such deserving children.
