The Greater Ottawa Community Rallies behind six-year-old boy diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

Every little boy loves fancy race cars but not every six-year-old can not only identify the race cars but also knows the names of all of the drivers in NASCAR.

Six-year-old Joshua’s wish was for a NASCAR themed arcade room. Miracles happen everyday at The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada and Joshua inspired all of us to new levels.

Thanks to the incredible support of one of our new fundraising community partners, TheTifosi Motorsports Club, six volunteers went out Saturday morning in a major snowstorm with their paint-brushes in hand to start the ground work for Joshua’s dream arcade room. The news of this little boy who loved race cars spread quickly; CTV Ottawa jumped on board and contacted TSN Canada.

"Joshua’s Story" was aired as part of a special CTV sports segment and the very next day emails came to us from the NASCAR Foundation and race car fans around the city expressing their desire to also lend help in bringing Joshua’s dream to life.

On February 17, 2008 the opening day of the Daytona 500, Joshua and his family were VIP guests of the Tifosi Motorsport Club where 300 "fans" gathered to watch the race on the big screen and celebrate his courage during his long sessions of cancer treatments and finally to celebrate the granting of his wish.

$14,200 was raised thanks to the Tifosi efforts and the generosity of another Wish Family whose little boy had already been granted a wish. The Rathwell family presented the event organizers with a cheque for $2500 to assist in Joshua’s wish. Both Joshua and his friend, Zachary Rathwell was named as official "honorary lifetime members" of the Tifosi Club.

One little boy inspired hundreds of people to come together to help his dream to come true.

Note - The Dream Continues. May 4th Joshua hosted his own "open house" and invited back all of the folks who helped to grant his wish - On August 16th Joshua and his family will be the VIP guests of Kangaroo TV in Montreal for the live Nascar Canada race..
