How can I possibly sum up our trip into one short paragraph? There were so many wonderful moments—too many to name them all! Before we even took to the skies we were so amazed at the care and concern given to our family. Every detail was thoughtfully planned and laid out for us—which was a real blessing to us as busy parents! We were able to relax and enjoy our time together as a family.
To start with, we stayed at the Polynesian Resort. Stitch made a few appearances, much to our delight! There was a beach right at our poolside and we all enjoyed renting a boat one afternoon and cruising around the lagoon. We spent our first few days in the Disney Theme parks. Our pirates are small, but they were up to the adventure (we did our best to keep up!). Spencer and Casey got to collect pirate treasure all over the Magic Kingdom on a special Pirate and Princess Party night. The evening pirate parade was also a BIG hit. Both boys absolutely loved "Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin" and "Spaceship Earth". We rode Buzz at least 6 or 7 times! For Spencer, "Soarin’" was a major highlight. He constantly talks about going back. Our adventure on the sea was just as wonderful. The shows were fabulous, the fireworks were amazing, and the kids club was a blast. Our family really loved Castaway Cay where we relaxed at the ocean and also got to meet Captain Jack Sparrow! Later that day aboard ship, we were invited to a private meeting with Mickey Mouse. Spencer was shining with delight because he dearly loves Mickey!
There were so many moments when Jon and I felt humbled and grateful for this opportunity that was given to us for Spencer. The pressures of daily living with an illness seem so small when you see that little face light up with delight when they see their favorite character or when they are holding your hand in the "happiest place on earth." Thank you, Derek and Marilyn, for planning and taking care of our trip details. Thank you to each person who contributed in a small or big way to give this gift of a lifetime to our family. We are forever grateful.
Sincerely,
Robyn
