 The Pink Slips Car Club will be travelling to car shows across North America this year in support of Children’s Wish. Pink Slips members are women and their cool, collective classic cars.  EYU Charity Challenge
For the fifth year in a row, Ernst & Young’s EYU staff is raising funds and volunteering time in support of The Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada.
Through the EYU Charity Challenge, 10 teams across Canada compete with one another. This year’s goal is to collectively raise $50,000 to grant wishes for children diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses. To date, the challenge has donated $210,000 to Children’s Wish.  A portion of the funds raised by EYU in 2009 sponsored a wish for six-year-old Jaida (at right), who was diagnosed with Degenerative Neuromuscular Disease when she was 18 months old.Jaida’s disabilities have not dampened her spirits. She talks constantly from the moment she wakes up until she falls asleep. “She’s very engaging and steals the hearts of everyone who meets her,” says her mother Helen.
This little girl picked a trip to Disney World as her wish because she loves Mickey Mouse, Winnie the Pooh and all the other Disney characters. What does the wish mean to the family? Helen says: “It’s going to be a week that we can spend together as a family away from all of the pressures, complications and appointments and be in a place where it will all be about the kids. It’s going to be wonderful to see Jaida and her brother be “lit” up for a week.”
